In this Issue Snow is not too far away - in fact as I write this it looks like it could be snowing up on Buffalo Mountain. There is still time to buy a property so that you can enjoy it for the ski season. You can be at your condo on Sunday evening, while everyone else is in a traffic jam on I 70. Summit County Parade of Homes~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The highlight of the autumn season in Summit County is the annual Parade of Homes. They pick what is usually the best two weekends for the aspen leaves too. This year the parade will be this coming weekend, September 19th and 20th and the next weekend the 26th and 27th. The Parade is put on by the Summit County Builders Association. The $10.00 ticket charge is good for all four days and it benefits the Summit Foundation which does good work around the county. There are 25 homes on the tour, 7 of those are in the Silverthorne area, most are in the the Breckenridge area. It's always fun to see the latest trends in the homes. I remember a couple years ago being surprised at all the flat screen TVs in so many rooms. Changes Coming to Green Mountain Reservoir~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The forest service has received over a million dollars in stimulus money to make improvements to the camprounds and boat launching at Green Mountain Reservoir. They are talking about putting in a new boat launch and marina at Cow Creek South campground. They also want to bring in electricity, add or improve about 40 sites, put in water and a dump station. You can find out more information about the project at the Forest Service web site. If you use Green Mountain Reservoir the forest service would like your input on the proposed changes by September 18th. Lender News ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rates are around 5.25% for a 30 year loan. You will need good credit (720 credit score or above). These rates are changing daily. The rates also vary depending on the property type, credit scores and documentation required. Don't forget the first time home buyer tax credit ends soon. You need to close by the end of November. The cool thing is the first time home buyer can file an amendment to their 2008 return and get the credit now, rather than waiting till they complete their 2009 taxes.
