Summit County, a winter wonderland and summer playground is located 60 miles west of Denver and just west of the Continental Divide. Summit County is home to four ski areas and of some of the best snow skiing in the world. Ski areas include Keystone, Breckenridge, Arapahoe Basin and Copper Mountain. The saying goes "the locals came for the skiing, but stayed for the summer". It's true, summers consist of warm sunny days, and cool nights. Two large reservoirs, Lake Dillon and Green Mountain Reservoir along with almost 600 thousand acres of forest service land make hiking, hunting, fishing, boating, and biking just some of the summer attractions. The friendly resort towns of Breckenridge, Frisco, Silverthorne and Dillon provide Main Streets for shopping and dining along with the ski resorts of Keystone and Copper Mountain. Montezuma and Heeney each much smaller have their own special charm.
